Hamptons
Developed in 1990 by Tirion Properties, The Hamptons is located on the northern edge of Calgary, directly north of the community of West Hillhurst, and was established in 1990. The topography is a slightly rolling upland plateau. The land comprising this community was annexed in two stages.
In 1976 the southern portion of Hamptons was annexed to the city; the northern portion became part of Calgary in 1989. The community is developing as a single family residential community with the added feature of an 18 - hole golf course, surrounded by homes and a natural ravine, along the northern edge.
The Hamptons School opened September 02, 1999. It is the first school in Alberta to be built by a community developer. The project is a unique partnership involving Alberta Education, the Calgary Board of Education and Tirion Properties. The school has 6 classrooms which accommodate 2 kindergarten classes (morning and afternoon), and 5 classrooms for grades 1-3. The configuration of grades and classrooms may change from year to year. The school has a Library with print, audio-visual, and technological resources and connections. Each class currently has 4 networked workstations with internet connections and we are installing 4 more stations as soon as possible.
